Release notes
100%. Unvibe is out
The build meter hit 100 percent. Unvibe is live for Mac and Windows.
Smol Startup #1 daily
Unvibe hit #1 on Smol Startup for the day. Public badge lives in the site footer.
Startup support total
Program credits plus self-reported cash now total $262,700. Includes Deepgram $1,000 (18 Aug) and Mixpanel Pro $144,000 for 1 year. Credits are not cash. Not a round.
Your own code in the first minute, and typed questions filtered for secrets
The first run now ends on your own code: select a few lines in any app and press the shortcut. On a Mac, Accessibility is asked the first time you press it, and after Unvibe explains your own code once, it asks whether to open when you log in. While payments are closed, the upgrade offer says Pro isn't open yet instead of showing prices. The setup sample no longer counts as a streak day on the computer where you ran it. Follow-up questions, lesson questions and Chat messages go through the same secret filter as selected code. Signed-in friends can enter your gift code on their Share page, and you each get a month of Pro. The app now sends setup progress tied to a random install ID (never your code or email), with a switch in Settings to turn it off.
Ask Vibe works before you sign in, and a design pass everywhere
Ask Vibe and re-explaining a saved lesson now work on the free plan without signing in; before, they could fail with a 401 error. The review panel, companion and Island have clearer focus, readable muted text, keyboard-scrollable content and accessible review controls. The homepage now opens with a real recording of the app and a walkthrough in real screenshots.
Your first explanation in under a minute
Setup is three steps instead of five. The second step explains a real piece of code right away, with no permission needed. The third shows the shortcut that works everywhere (Control+U on Mac, Ctrl+Alt+U on Windows) and one clear Accessibility button on Mac. You no longer see a sign-in screen every time you open Unvibe.
Windows says PC, and the site teaches the right shortcut
On Windows the sidebar, Settings and About now say this PC instead of this Mac. The site now shows the shortcut that works in every app: Control+U on Mac and Ctrl+Alt+U on Windows. On a phone, the homepage lets you send the link to your computer or try Vibe right there.
A tidier Today page and a Mac signature that stays the same
On smaller windows the Up next list no longer runs into Recently understood. The Mac app is now signed with the same certificate every release, so after this update macOS asks for Accessibility once more, and future updates no longer change the signature that permission is tied to.
Prove it quizzes, the editor shortcut, and a proper Windows app
Quizzes now ask what breaks if a line changes, and every answer cites the line. The editor bridge ships inside the app again, so ⌘U works in VS Code and Cursor. After an update on Mac, Unvibe asks for Accessibility again instead of quietly losing it. On Windows the shortcut is Ctrl+Alt+U so Ctrl+U stays free, copying a selection no longer interrupts a terminal, the window has real minimize, maximize and close buttons, the portable app updates itself, and the app talks about your PC instead of a Mac.
Installs you can verify
Every release now publishes a SHA-256 checksum next to each installer, and the one line install for Mac and Windows checks the download against it before anything runs. Install help shows how to read the script and verify a file yourself. The Integrations settings tab also handles an empty editor list without going blank.
About page
unvibe.site/about went live.
Sidebar button really works now
On Mac, the strip you drag the window by was sitting on top of the sidebar button, so clicks moved the window instead. The button now lives in the page header next to the title, and the header and sidebar are where you drag the window.
A notification when a new version is out
Unvibe now checks for updates every hour and shows a desktop notification once for each new version. Click it and the update installs and reopens by itself. The Mac release build is also sturdier, so the Apple silicon download is never missing.
Ask Vibe model picker moved into the message box
The model label could cover the Ask Vibe greeting on some window sizes. It now sits inside the message box next to Speak, and its menu opens upward, so nothing overlaps.
Unvibe is in Claude for Startups
Unvibe joined Claude for Startups, Anthropic's program for early startups: API credits, Claude Team for a year, and partner perks worth about $21.5K to $23K. Startup support now totals $262,700 in credits and committed cash.
Calmer look, Teams ready, clearer shortcut help
The app uses one accent colour instead of four, and the box around the Ask field is gone. If the shortcut cannot read your selection, the panel now says why and offers a one click fix. The sidebar button sits clear of the window buttons and also works with Command backslash. Teams has a real card on the Plan page with team name and seats, ready for checkout.
Light panel, voice, easier sharing
The review panel now opens in light mode to match the app, and its buttons keep their colour instead of turning black. The island fits its stats without cutting off, and the bottom and top right positions open properly. A big Try voice card shows how to ask Vibe out loud with Mac Dictation. Share is now one invite link with Email, X, WhatsApp and LinkedIn buttons. VS Code and Cursor are found wherever they are installed, and Accessibility has a one click fix when macOS gets stuck.
Google sign-in connects every time
A server bug marked the sign-in code as used while the app was still waiting, so Connect this device said the code was not recognised. That is fixed, and the app now shows the code big and clear so you can match it with the browser.
Opens on every Mac, M1 and newer included
Apple silicon Macs said Unvibe was damaged because the app bundle was not signed. Every Mac build is now sealed with a signature and checked before release, including actually starting it on an Apple silicon machine. The download box explains the first open on Mac and Windows.
Unvibe updates itself
When a new version is out, a small card says so. Press Update now and Unvibe downloads it, swaps itself and reopens, lessons and settings kept. Opening a newer copy while an older one runs now hands over to the new one instead of bringing the old one back.
Vibe is the app icon now
The old purple hexagon is gone. Unvibe's icon in the Dock, the taskbar, the installer and your browser tab is now Vibe on a paper tile.
Answers start instantly, quiz me on everything, a livelier Island
Explanations now stream word by word the moment the AI starts writing, instead of waiting for the whole answer. Quick Quiz has a new Quiz me on everything run: up to ten questions across your saved lessons, revisit ones first, with a score at the end. On the Island, Vibe hops when an answer lands, the streak flame flickers, and a +1 pops when your streak grows. Investors can now page through the pitch deck right on unvibe.site/investors.
Sign in with Google fills you in, and invites really pay out
On the setup screen, tap Fill this in with Google, pick one of your saved Google accounts, and your name and email are filled in for you. Invite links now actually work: when a friend joins with yours, you both get a month of Pro, up to five friends, and it stacks. Everyone with the app is on the list automatically and starts with a welcome month of Pro. Changed 22 Oct 2026: joining with a link no longer grants Pro. Gift months come from a code entered in the app, from version 0.1.44 (25 Oct 2026).
A talking onboarding, feedback everywhere, and try it in your browser
Setup is five quick steps where Vibe talks to you with little sounds: say hi, your name, connect your editors and Google, one permission, then a six second demo you can play with. You can rate Unvibe with stars and a few words from the site or the app. unvibe.site lets you paste code and get a real explanation without downloading, shows live visitor and download numbers, gives you an invite link that earns you and a friend a month of Pro, and can email you the setup guide. The Mac installer window is custom too.
Always in your Dock, a cleaner Island, a bigger site
Unvibe now always shows in the Mac Dock and the Windows taskbar so you can click back into it. The Island uses the app's fonts, Vibe as its mark and sticker colours. unvibe.site gets bigger type, solid cards, a giant free download box, a FREE ribbon, Vibe riding down the page as you scroll, a sticky free download bar, and a new one-page investor brief.
After-Agent Review, sounds, and a new demo
When Cursor or Claude Code leaves a pile of edits, Briefs now opens with an After-Agent Review: sensitive files first, the largest edits, the areas touched, a review checklist you can tick off, and saved explanations that may now be stale. Vibe has sounds now: a happy boop, a soft whoosh when it starts thinking, a chime when the answer lands, and quiz right and wrong cues. The waitlist only asks for your email, and the site has a new recorded demo of the app.
An elegant italic, a see-through panel, and a new site
Vibe's notes and the accent words now use an elegant italic serif instead of handwriting. The Command U panel has a light and dark switch in its header, and when you click back into your editor it turns see-through instead of getting in the way. unvibe.site gets Vibe in the nav and hero, the app's fonts, and a new tour of the app.
Paper, ink and stickers
Unvibe goes light and playful. Warm paper and black ink with bright sticker colors, Bricolage Grotesque headings, Inter for reading and handwritten notes from Vibe. Buttons press down like real keys, pages spring in, and Vibe is now a flat 2D sticker on every page. Today is simpler, and the Command U panel is an ink window where Vibe scribbles what it is doing while it writes.
Dark pro: a sharper, denser Unvibe
The whole app is redesigned dark, like Linear or Raycast: near black surfaces, hairline borders, one violet accent with a soft glow. Today is a single dense view with a one line stats row and quick rows you can scan. Every page has a header with search and a Command U Explain button. The Command U panel and the Island share the same palette, and Vibe glows in the corner of every page.
Sign-in that works on more networks, Windows that feels native
Unvibe now connects through your computer's own network settings and certificates, so Google sign-in works on school, work and antivirus networks. On Windows, Cursor, VS Code, Zed, Windsurf, Claude, Warp, GitHub Desktop and git are detected, the editor bridge installs, and copying a selection is more patient.
Color, motion and a real quiz
An aurora gradient behind glass panels, a color for every section, Plus Jakarta Sans built in, and pages that ease in. The quiz is a centered card where Vibe waves, thinks and celebrates. Library and Quiz are full width cards.
A dark side panel for Command U
The explain panel is a compact dark window with a color coded tool rail, live thinking steps while the answer is written, and text that scales with the panel.
Meet Vibe, and a calmer app
Vibe is a purple blob with glossy black eyes that follows you through the app. A rebuilt sidebar with search, a simpler Home, restyled onboarding and settings, and the original Island is back.
Windows startup fix
Unvibe no longer crashes on launch on Windows. Closing the window keeps Unvibe in the taskbar instead of hiding it.
Download on every page
The nav, hero, pricing, and closing call to action now download Unvibe for Mac and Windows. A new Resources page covers depths, shortcuts, and how your code is handled.
Release day countdown removed
The 7 SEP 2026 private beta countdown is off the homepage hero. No new public date is listed.
Homepage waitlist at the bottom
Join waitlist in the nav and footer now opens the homepage form. Install platform tabs and the Mac download link sit centered under the command.
Salesforce for Startups
Affiliated with Salesforce for Startups. Logo added beside the other program partners on the homepage backing strip.
Current Mac app stills on the site
Homepage scroll story now uses live companion shots: welcome, Island, Home, History, Progress, Quiz, Privacy, and Mac access. Cursor demo stays the long walkthrough.
Deepgram for Startups
Secured $1,000 in Deepgram API credits. Not cash. Not a round.
Windows 30 explanation trial
Private beta now includes a Windows x64 trial with the same 30 AI explanations as Mac. Install from PowerShell. The app is unsigned, so SmartScreen may warn. Changed 22 Oct 2026: the free trial is now 50 explanations in the first 30 days.
Beta waitlist email
Waitlist and download mails now include the install curl and the Typeform feedback link. Nothing is sent until a dry run is approved.
Pricing checkout
Pro and Team start Stripe checkout from /pricing. Free goes to the beta install. Enterprise still writes preston@unvibe.site. Changed 22 Oct 2026: checkout is closed until payments open, and /pricing says so.
Mixpanel for Startups
Accepted into Mixpanel for Startups with $144,000 worth of Mixpanel Pro subscription credits for 1 year. Not cash. Not a round.
PostHog for Startups
Accepted into the program. $50,000 in PostHog credits. Not cash. Not a round.
Homepage curl sits on its own
The survey form moved above the demo video. The install command is wider, and Command U now says what the Mac download is.
Roomier overlay, setup that asks for your name
The review panel no longer stacks the usage pill on the logo. First launch walks through name, profile, and Accessibility in System Settings. Curl install now ships that build.
Try the Mac beta from the homepage
A copy paste Terminal command sits under the title. No name or email. After 30 explanations, a short survey invitation appears. Gifts still add on. Changed 22 Oct 2026: the free trial is now 50 explanations, and waitlist gifts no longer grant Pro.
Free is 30 explanations a month
Free, trial, and unsigned beta now stop after 30 AI explanations. Pro stays at 100. Pricing on the site matches that cap. Changed 22 Oct 2026: unsigned use is 50 explanations in the first 30 days, and signed-in Free is 50 a month.
Gifts, Pro, and Google sign-in actually connect
A gift code is proven from the giver email, not a random string. A verified waitlist gift gives both people 1 month of Pro. Stripe Buy still works after a gift month. Continue with Google opens unvibe.site/activate. Changed 22 Oct 2026: waitlist gifts no longer grant Pro, and checkout is closed until payments open.
GitLab for Startups
Accepted into the program. GitLab Ultimate credits to secure, automate, and scale the developer pipeline. Not cash. Not a round.
Gift Unvibe page and a calmer companion
Gift Unvibe is its own page in the Mac app: an 8 character gift code, a 0/5 meter, and the waitlist screenshots from unvibe.site. The companion pane is less compact. Home is a daily feed. Small windows get a menu drawer.
Gift Unvibe
Share an 8 character gift code from the Mac app. A friend joins the waitlist with your email and that code. Both of you get 1 month of Pro, up to five gifts. Changed 22 Oct 2026: joining the waitlist no longer grants Pro. Gift months come from a code entered in the app, from version 0.1.44 (25 Oct 2026).
